			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p></p><p><strong>I certainly didn’t start out with an interest in colon health. </strong> And by my late 20s my health showed it.  Allergies, chronic fatigue, stress, depression, acne, dandruff, colds and flu were all part of my everyday, every-week and every-year reality.</p>
<p><strong>But, somewhere in the back of my mind, I felt that there must be a better way</strong>.   My first tentative steps toward that better way involved changing my nutrition. When I was 26, I stopped eating all meat, including fish.  I didn’t have much nutritional guidance as a new vegetarian, but even after just 1 month on a vegetarian diet, I noticed benefits.  Specifically I began to wake up earlier and feel more energy during the day.</p>
<p><strong>As I stayed with the vegetarian diet my eating habits changed.</strong> I started to eat more simply &#8211; combining less foods at one time and being content with less.  And at one point I stopped eating all dairy products. Almost immediately my allergies began to disappear.</p>
<p><strong>A few years later, while I was studying to be a yoga teacher in Miami, I met a group of people who were the “ultimate vegetarians.” </strong>These people ate only raw fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds.  They looked more radiant than anyone I had ever seen.  I decided to join them. After six weeks of eating only raw vegetarian foods, I couldn’t deny that I felt healthier and younger than I had in years.</p>
<p><strong>I was so inspired by this revelation that I began to study all the “raw food” literature I could get my hands on.</strong> I read 100s of books and learned directly from some of the best raw food teachers around.  I was deeply impressed by their vitality, humanity and commitment to share the simple teachings of the raw vegetarian diet.</p>
<p>During this period, I first heard of colon cleansing and its many benefits.  I completed my first colon cleanse a couple of weeks later.  In the years that followed, I researched and experimented many varieties of colon cleansing.  Within 5 years, I’d personally tried all of the major types of cleansing and read all the major literature about colon cleansing.</p>
<p><strong>What I found is that cleansing the colon and keeping it clean led to more health benefits than anything other single thing I had ever done, including being vegetarian, vegan or even a raw food vegan</strong>.   The allergies, depression, acne, stress, chronic fatigue of my late 20s all vanished.</p>
<p><strong>I had found a key to vibrant health and began sharing what I had learned.</strong> At first, I recommended a high quality pre-made colon cleanse kit (the first one that I had done).  The problem for many people was that it cost over $300.  I did about a year of research and found another kit that was also very effective and just $120.  I’ve recommended that kit now to over 3000 people.</p>
<p><strong> Later, knowing that the ingredients for great colon cleanses are easy to find, I started making my own cleanses at a fraction of the costs of a colon cleanse kit</strong>.  With my own cleanses I found myself getting better results and cleansing more often that I would with a pre-made kit.</p>
<p><strong>In addition I discovered how to keep the colon functioning at its best between cleanses, which is something that no cleanse kit, even the great ones, tell you how to do</strong>.  I learned about the optimal colon health diet, I found some great colon strengthening exercises and learned ways to cleanse that left me even healthier than before.</p>

<p>In general, and for most people, the answer is &#8220;yes.&#8221;   People with medical problems need to consult their doctor before starting a cleanse.</p>

<p>A good detox does really clean. Your body is always eliminating toxins, but on a detox program it is able to eliminate more due to various factors.</p>
<p><strong> Q: Is it good for our body? </strong></p>
<p>Detox and cleansing is usually good for most people&#8217;s bodies. People who have medical issues need to consult with their doctor first. But generally healthy people benefit greatly from it. Think of it like getting a massage, except for your internal organs.</p>
<p><strong>Q: Which detox should I take? </strong></p>

<p>No, but you will need to use a bathroom more frequently than normal. 6-8 movements a day is pretty typical.</p>
<p><strong>Q: Am I going to lose only water?</strong><br />
Good detox and cleanse programs also help you lose fat &#8211; that&#8217;s just how the body works. Take in less calories than you burn and you lose fat.</p>

<p>In all the hype,  the most important and, in my opinion, most effective strategy for detox is often overlooked:   <span style="text-decoration: underline;">the body cleansing diet</span>.  It&#8217;s simple and inexpensive, but when it&#8217;s done carefully and appropriately the results are very powerful.</p>
<p><strong>Cleansing with diet means that you avoid heavy foods that are difficult to digest and instead focus on eating whole, fresh foods.</strong> A cleansing diet program usually lasts longer than a fast or a limited calorie program like the &#8220;Master Cleanse&#8221; &#8211; up to 30 days in some cases.  That&#8217;s a  very positive thing for most people because the longer the program, the more likely you are to actually make significant changes to your everyday diet and lifestyle.</p>

The reality is that there is a lot of hyperbole and misinformation on both sides. That can make it difficult to get a balanced view about colon cleansing.</p>
<p>In this article I&#8217;ll reveal the top colon cleanse myths that you&#8217;ve probably already come across so that you can decide for yourself if cleansing is something you&#8217;d like to try.<br />

Myth Number One: &#8220;Colon Cleansing is A Cure All&#8221;</strong></p>
<p>The promoters of colon cleansing often sound like used car salesman. It&#8217;s not uncommon for them to suggest that the practice will fix everything that&#8217;s wrong with you. Don&#8217;t believe all that. It&#8217;s true that a good colon cleanse can produce powerful and beneficial health results, but it takes time and consistent effort to achieve. In my experience it is most helpful to approach you cleanse and detox process with this knowledge.<br />

Myth Number Two: &#8220;There&#8217;s No Need to Colon Cleanse &#8211; The Colon Does it by itself.&#8221; </strong></p>
<p>This argument comes from the side against colon cleansing. Here&#8217;s the thing, in an ideal world it&#8217;s absolutely true that the color cleanses itself on its own. But the reality is that the colon only works well when you give it enough fiber. The recommended intake is 30gm everyday. Most people eating a standard western diet eat around 12. Thus colon disease and digestive problems are widespread and growing. In the case that you&#8217;ve always eaten enough fiber you probably don&#8217;t need a colon cleanse. But a person like that is very rare.<br />

Myth Number Three: &#8220;Those Pictures Of Plaque Aren&#8217;t Real&#8221;</strong></p>
<p>By now you may have seen some images on the internet of goopy brown or green strands that people have released as part of a colon cleanse. Some detractors insist that these are not real. Having done many cleanses myself I can assure you that this &#8220;mucoid plaque,&#8221; as it is called is indeed real. It&#8217;s also a real problem since it inhibits the absorption of nutrients in the intestines. Plaque forms when we eat too many fatty foods and not enough fiber and the best way to get it out is to cleanse with herbs.<br />
<strong><br />
Myth Number Four: &#8220;Colon Cleansing Costs A Lot Of Money.&#8221;</strong></p>
<p>It&#8217;s true that there a number of colon treatments out there that could run you several hundred dollars. The fundamentals, however, are really simple and most of the ingredients you need to make your own high quality colon cleanse are right on the shelves of your grocery store. All you need are some instructions and recipes. My last cleanse cost a total of about $18 and did wonders for my health.</p>

The skin is our largest detox organ and the primary way it gets rid of toxins is through sweating. Cardiovascular exercise and steam baths are great ways to break a sweat, but sweating is not the only way to support the skin to detox. Dry skin brushing is also very helpful. The body makes a new layer of skin roughly every 24 hours. When you brush the top dead layer of skin away, you allow this new layer to come to the surface. Skin brushing also support healthy blood flow and gives your lymph system a boost.</p>
<p>Skin brushing technique: Before you can brush your skin, you&#8217;ll need to stop into a health food store and pick up an all natural bristle skin brush. Do not use a synthetic bristle brush as the plastic is too harsh for the skin. Make sure to get a brush with a long handle so you can reach your back. You should brush your skin right before you shower, when it is still dry. Start with your feet and brush up the legs. Then move to your arms. Finally brush your torso. Try to always brush toward your heart and over your heart make circles with the brush. This is said to stimulate blood flow. One pass should take 2-4 minutes and is plenty in the beginning. Make sure to avoid any areas with open skin or sensitive skin. If you want to brush your face, you should buy a soft brush designed for the purpose.</p>
<p>Once you&#8217;ve come out of the shower and dried off, your skin should feel especially clean. When you skin brush regularly you are likely to notice that your skin takes on a healthier glow. Other benefits include the reduction of cellulite and varicose veins. One other way you can help your skin is to nourish it with coconut oil after your shower &#8211; this is especially helpful in dry climates. Make sure the coconut oil is 100% pure and raw.</p>
<p>Especially for people who live in humid climates: I live in a tropical area and have found that dry skin brushing feels too harsh. I think that&#8217;s because my skin is always a little bit damp from the humidity. Instead of using a skin brush in the tropics, I now use special exfoliating gloves that can be used in the shower. The process is the same as above except that it&#8217;s done what the shower water is running.</p>
<p>Skin brushing is a great addition to any cleansing and detox program because it supports the body to eliminate toxins faster.<br />

When I was about 28, I decided to leave off the eating of all animals, including fish. I did it pretty much on my own, but even after just a month as a vegetarian I began to feel better. What I noticed most was that I had more energy during the day and that I needed less sleep.</p>
<p>I stuck with vegetarianism and my eating patters transformed. Simple meals became the norm for me. I combined less different kinds of food and began to feel content with smaller amounts as well. They told me that their secret was eating a raw vegan diet. I decided to give it a go and after six weeks I understood why they raved about the lifestyle. I felt younger and better than I ever had.</p>
<p>I became truly excited by this amazing experience and studied in depth all the literature about raw food that i could find (it wasn&#8217;t a whole lot &#8211; but from it I learned the basics of why raw food is so good for us). I learned about enzyems and vitamins and minerals among other things.</p>

<p>Specifically, there are 6 types of fibers in plants. Each of them has a different effect on the digestive system.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p></p><p>As someone who has advocated colon cleansing for years and who has guided 1000s of people through their own colon cleansing process I was shocked to discover what I’m about to share with you here – <em>the dangers of colon cleansers</em>.</p>
<p><strong>One of the basic principles of colon cleansing is to stop consuming anything that might be toxic to your body.</strong> The idea is to improve your health, to feel better after you complete a cleanse.   Of course, that’s why most people choose to clean their colon.</p>
<p>And yet, would you believe that many colon cleansing products on the market contain ingredients that can make you sick?</p>
<p>In looking at the ingredient lists of over a little over 100 colon cleanse kits I discovered some things that anyone who wants to colon cleanse, and do it safely, needs to know.</p>
<p>Before I continue, you should know that these cleanse kits were not just the cheap ones from the local pharmacy.  Yes, I included those. But I also looked at cleanses that cost as much as $199.</p>
<p><strong>Here’s a summary of what I found: </strong></p>
<p><strong>First,  in total these colon cleanses contain:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>18 ingredients with potential side effects, ranging from nausea to immune system disorders.</li>
<li>4 known allergy causing foods.</li>
<li>2 potent herbs used in potentially dangerous quantities.</li>
<li>Low quality herbs that may contain pesticides, herbicides, toxic heavy metals and GMOs.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Second,  all of the following ingredients are in these cleanses: </strong></p>
<p>Clay, sugar, chalk, shellac (made from insect eggs), alcohol, animal tissue, chemical drugs, chemical solvents, common sand, fish, milk, soybeans, wheat, wax, and believe it or not, traces of cyanide!</p>
<p><strong>Third, some of these ingredients are also used in making: </strong></p>
<p>Pet food, cat litter, putty, adhesives, diapers, plastics, blackboard chalk, shoe polish, surfboard wax, ammunition, explosives, and fire extinguishers.</p>
<p>If you’re trying to clean your body with a colon cleanse, you don’t want any of that stuff in your system.  <strong></p>
<p>So much for those cleanses claiming to be “natural.”</strong></p>
<p>These are the specific ingredients found in cleanses that you should avoid:</p>
<ul>
<li>Apple pectin</li>
<li>Bentonite clay</li>
<li>Calcium carbonate</li>
<li>Carnauba wax</li>
<li>Dicalcium phosphate</li>
<li>Food glaze</li>
<li>Fructose</li>
<li>Gelatin</li>
<li>High amalyse corn starch</li>
<li>Inolin</li>
<li>Magnesium stearate</li>
<li>Methylcellulose</li>
<li>Natural Flavors</li>
<li>Polyethylene glycol</li>
<li>Potassium carbonate</li>
<li>Silicon dioxide</li>
<li>Titanium dioxide</li>
<li>Xantham gum</li>
<li>Fish</li>
<li>Milk</li>
<li>Wheat</li>
<li>Soy</li>
</ul>
